Ray Hattrell – My life with a camera 50 years
Ray will talk about going from film to digital with initial editing issues and then give an insight into the world of events including what it’s like backstage.
Monday 27th January – Model Night
Our first model night of the year, your chance to put yourself out of your comfort zone and talk to and direct our model for the night. Split into groups as usual so we’ll all get equal opportunity. We will hopefully fit two or three outfit changes in if we have time.
Bring your camera and tripod.
We will be upstairs in the Trench Room for this event.
Monday 3rd February – Technical Night
Running workshops on post processing techniques, starting with the basics for any new members. This will also cover hints and tips for editing your own pictures prior to submission for either internal or external competitions.

Lightroom Workflow Overview & Basic Editing
Importing images, basic processing, cropping, reading the histogram, basic image enhancements (curves, white balance, highlights/shadows etc), clone/heal tool, exporting exporting images for competitions from Lightroom.

Monday 10th February – YPU Entries Review/ Image Selection Night
Your chance to bring along your best images for entry and receive constructive criticism (if required) and also receive help in choosing which images to enter from fellow members.
The club will pay for some entries per member as usual so take the chance to enter your best images!

Fixed Focal Length Challenge – Venue TBC via email
Pick a focal length and shoot at that all night. Either a prime lens or choose a set length on your zoom lens for the entire evening.

An interesting experiment in ‘levitating’ our subject. We will be shooting images on the night and post production will be involved to combine the two images for an interesting effect.

Tonight we will be shooting various food items, including very thinly sliced fruit and vegetables backlit on light boxes, Romanesco cauliflower with its superbly textured shape and character and any other interesting food items we can source.

Otley Chevin
Tonight we will be visiting Otley Chevin and undertaking some outdoor model photography, hopefully with some superb or dramatic evening light.
There will also be, between model groups be the opportunity to capture some landscape photography.
